What is the warranty of the Suspension Technologies Shocks?

#AskMikeAlex - Answer

SUSPENSION TECHNOLOGIES’ SHOCK WARRANTY IS  AN UNLIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY - We have an unlimited lifetime warranty on all of the Suspension Technologies Shocks.

Our Suspension Technologies’ Shock Warranty allows if there is any problem with the shocks during the first 2 years of ownership, barring accidents, Suspension Technologies replaces the shocks.

In year 3 and later, the shocks are sent back to HQ and we dyno them and check their performance. If there is a problem, they are rebuilt to specs.

Dyno Tested – Every shock that leaves the factory is dyno tested. They are then matched so that the damping and spring rate are the closest to identical as humanly possible.

This means that riders get identical performance on each side of the bike. That may sound obvious, but some manufacturers along with some stock shocks are not symmetric from left to right.  This is either due to the design or wide variation in quality and tolerances.

Shock Dyno Helps Trouble Shoot a Suspension Problem – One of our customers had a set of Suspension Technologies’ Black Hills Series Shocks on their DYNA and had been running them for a number of years. He started experiencing handling problems and felt it was the shock.

We had him send us the shocks and checked them on the dyno.  We ran multiple load simulations and checked the current dyno graph with the original one that we archive.  We found that the shock was performing consistently.

It turns out he was having a problem, but not with the shocks.  He later discovered the problem was occurring in the swing arm. After replacing worn-out bearings, the bike was performing at an optimum level.

The Way that Suspension Technologies Feel – Stock shocks on touring bikes from the factory often feel like riding in a 1950’s Cadillac and stock shocks on other bikes like Sportsters and Dynas they can feel like someone is pounding your lower spine. Either way, the ride can feel vague and loose or rock hard and jarring.   Our Suspension Technologies’ Black Hills Series Shocks provide more of a European BMW-style feel. Riders feel the undulations on the tarmac but not the minor bumps.

The reason why riders and their passengers are so enthusiastic about the Black Hills Series Shocks is because of the technology inside. The Black Hills Series Shocks are true monotube design and are specifically engineered to provide better handling, control, and performance.
