YES, THEY WILL FIT NICELY… Blacked-out and chopped-down, the Nightster is one of the grittiest Sportsters around. One of the challenges with the bike is the exceptionally low functioning shocks.
The Nightster is one of the most sought-after cruisers on the market because of it’s stealthy look.
Nightster 11” Shocks - The Harley-Davidson Nightster Sportster comes standard with 11-inch shocks. At Suspension Technologies we have lowered hundreds of Sportsters with the 11 inch Black Hills Series Shocks. We replace it with a superior functioning shock that utilizes NASCAR-inspired racing technology.
Riders have reported back to us that they like the ride as it improves the tracking and control of the bike through corners.
Selecting the Perfect Set Nightster 11” Shocks – Stock shocks are built as one-size-fits-all. Black Hills Series Shocks are hand assembled and adjusted based on how the bike is ridden 80% of the time. This includes the motorcycle platform and variables of weight, highway or in-town cruising, and single or two up riding.
Here’s something to keep in mind – The Nightster is a low bike, to begin with. When you replace the 11” shocks with our Nightster 11” shocks, some stock and aftermarket pipes might touch if you encounter a steep curb or transition while leaning aggressively. Of course, if you run high mounted exhausts, you don’t have that issue. For most riders, you will need to be aware of your clearance and use common sense.
The Way that Nightster 11 inch Shocks Feel – Stock shocks on Sportsters are often rough and notchy. The rear shocks will only give up 60.9 mm (2.4”) of travel. Minimal padding in the seat helps to keep the seat height at a low 642 mm (25.3”) but doesn’t help much to contribute to a soft ride.
Installing the Black Hills Series Shocks transforms the ride to more of a European BMW-style feel. Riders feel the undulations on the road but not the minor bumps.
The reason why riders are so enthusiastic about the shocks is because of the technology inside. These shocks are true monotube design and are specifically engineered to provide better handling, control, and performance.
Consistently we hear enthusiasts say:
- My bike feels like a new bike – I should’ve done this years ago.
- I can go around corners faster with more control and confidence
- I can feel the road but the harshness has been removed
- I can’t believe how the touring bike goes into a corner and stays planted
